With LTI Advantage (LTI 1.3) you can use Dynamic Registration to connect GMetrix to Canvas.
Once connected, you can assign GMetrix Courses and Practice Exams to your assignments with Canvas. You'll be able to see scores and progress, and learners will be able to access assigned Courses and Practice Exams, directly within Canvas.
Configure LTI 1.3 for Canvas
Contact GMetrix Support before continuing with a self-hosted, district-wide, multi-school, or other complex implementation.Before you begin • Confirm that your organization uses Canvas Cloud or Instructure-hosted Canvas. • Make sure you have access to the GMetrix Administrator Portal. • Make sure you have administrator access in Canvas.
Part 1. Establish the Connection
Sign in to Both Platforms
In a web browser, open two new windows or tabs:
In the first, sign in to the GMetrix Administrator Portal.
In the second, sign in to your Canvas account.
In GMetrix
From the sidebar, select Integrations.
In the LTI 1.3 (Advantage) section, copy the Dynamic Registration URL.
In Canvas
- From the Canvas sidebar, select Admin and select the intended Canvas account.
- Go to Apps → Manage.
- Select Install a New App.
- Choose LTI 1.3, then select Dynamic Registration.
- Paste the Dynamic Registration URL from GMetrix, then select Next.
- Continue the installation workflow and confirm the following details:
- Permissions: Confirm all permissions are enabled, then select Next.
- Data Sharing: If your school district's privacy policies allow it, select All user data from the menu.
- Select Next.
- Placements: Confirm Assignment Selection and Link Selection are checked, then select Next.
- Nickname: Keep the existing details (recommended) or enter your own, then select Next.
- Tool Icon URL: Keep the existing Tool Icon URL and select Next.
- Review: Review the app details.
- Select Install App.
Part 2. Confirm the App Is Installed
In Canvas
- Confirm that GMetrix appears in the Manage tab (Admin → Account → Apps → Manage).
- Review the GMetrix app settings.
- Confirm that the app is Available for the intended Canvas account.
- If the app is Not Available, select the edit button
.Choose Available from the menu, then select Save.
After Setup
Single Sign-On (SSO): After the connection is established, users can launch GMetrix from Canvas without needing to sign in to both platforms.
Grade Passback: Supported Practice Exam scores can be returned to Canvas based on the assignment settings.
Deep Linking: Instructors can select and add supported GMetrix content directly from within Canvas.
