You can add GMetrix content to your Brightspace LMS using LTI.

Before You Begin

Find the following information in the GMetrix Administrator Portal:

  • LTI Credentials: The LTI Key and Secret associated with the GMetrix account.
  • Resource Key: The Test key associated with each test want to add.
  • Classroom Code: The code associated with your GMetrix Classroom.

Get Your LTI Credentials from GMetrix

  1. Sign in to the Administrator Portal at manage.gmetrix.net.
  2. In the sidebar, choose Dashboard and scroll down to Learning Tools Interoperability.
  3. Choose "Resource Key lookup."
  4. Click the Request LTI Key and Secret button to view your LTI 1.1 credentials.Request LTI Key and Secret button
  5. You can find your resource key below in the Test Keys and Course Keys tabs. Click a category and product to expand it and see your available keys.LTI and Resource Credentials

Find Your Classroom Code

  1. Sign in to the Portal at manage.gmetrix.net.
  2. In the sidebar, choose Classrooms.
  3. Find your Classroom. The Classroom Code will be shown next to the Details button.
Pro Tip: Copy and Paste
You can copy and paste your LTI credentials. In GMetrix, select the text you want to copy and press Ctrl-C on a PC or Command-C on a Mac. In Brightspace, select a text field and press Ctrl-V on a PC or Command-V on a Mac to paste the copied text.

Adding GMetrix to D2L Brightspace

1. Create a Tool Link in Brightspace

  1. Sign in to your Brightspace account and choose the Course Admin tab.
  2. Under Site Resources, choose External Learning Tools.External Learning Tools

  4. Enter a title for your link, such as "Word 365 Practice 1."
  5. In the URL field, enter the following address
    https://www.gmetrix.net/lti/

2. Configure the Link

Key and Secret

  1. In the Key/Secret section, choose "Link key/secret."
  2. Enter or paste your GMetrix LTI key in the Key field.
  3. In the Secret field, enter or paste your GMetrix LTI secret.
  4. In the Custom Parameters section, click "Add custom parameters."
  5. You will be asked to save, click Save to continue.
  6. In the Name field, enter "gmexresourcekey" followed by a tab (gmxresourcekey    ).

  7. In the Value field, enter the Test Key or Course Key from your GMetrix account.

Classroom Code

  1. Click "Add custom parameters."Add custom parameters link
  2. You will be asked to save again, click Save to continue.
  3. In the Name field, enter "accesscode" followed by a tab (accesscode ).

  4. In the Value field, enter the Classroom Code associated with your GMetrix Classroom.

Security Settings

  1. In the Security Settings section, check "Send system username to tool provider."
  2. Check "Send user email to tool provider."

3. Add an Assignment

Now that you've linked your GMetrix Course or Test, you can attach it to assignments.

  1. In Brightspace, click the Content tab.
  2. Click "Add a module..." and enter a name, such as "Practice Exam."
  3. In the module, click the New button and choose New Assignment.
  4. In the Assignment Title field, enter a name for the assignment, such as "Word Practice Exam."
  5. In the Grade Out Of field, enter the number of points the assignment is worth.
  6. Click the insert quick link button (lightning bolt and link) and choose External Learning Tools.Adding an Assignment
  7. Choose your tool link from the list of options to attach it.
  8. Choose Open GMetrix SMSe if prompted.
  9. Make the assignment visible and click the Save and Close button.The "Visible" toggle must be enabled.

Testing the Integration

If you want to make sure the integration is working, you can try viewing the assignment as a student.

  1. In the content browser, expand the module and click the assignment.
    * If you don't see the assignment, make sure it is set to visible.
  2. Click the link under Instructions to launch the attached resource.
