You can integrate GMetrix with Brightspace (D2L) using Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) 1.1. Once configured, students can access GMetrix content directly within Brightspace, and scores will automatically sync between both platforms.
Notes and Compatibility
- You must have access to both Brightspace and the GMetrix Administrator Portal.
- For in-app tests, students must download the Skills Management System (SMS).
- Note: Certain exams only support SMS for Windows.
- Adobe, AutoCAD, and MOS exams are not available on macOS (SMSe).
Part 1: Gather Integration Details from GMetrix
Before you can link GMetrix and Blackboard you'll need to gather details from the GMetrix Administrator Portal. Consider copying this information into a document for later use.
Note: You’ll need to repeat this process for each Course or Practice Exam you plan to integrate.
Step 1: Find the Classroom Code
Each Classroom in GMetrix has a unique Classroom Code. You’ll need this to associate the Classroom with Brightspace.
- Sign in to the Administrator Portal at gmetrix.net/manage.
- From the sidebar, select Classrooms.
- Locate the desired Classroom and select Details.
- The Classroom Code appears below the tab bar.
Step 2: Get Your LTI Credentials
LTI credentials are unique to each institution or testing center. For example, each school in a district will have its own credentials. Make sure you have the correct credentials before integrating the platforms.
- From the sidebar, select Dashboard.
- Scroll to Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) and select Resources Key Lookup.
- Choose Request LTI Key and Secret.
- Copy your institution’s credentials:
- Key: The consumer key used for authentication.
- Secret: The shared secret for secure communication.
- Collect the resource keys needed for each Course or Practice Exam:
- Course Keys: Go to the Course Keys tab. Expand a category to see Programs and copy the key.
- Test Keys: Go to the Test Keys tab. Expand a Program to find its Practice Exams and keys.
Part 2: Set Up the Integration in Brightspace
After collecting the required information from GMetrix, you can complete the integration steps in Brightspace.
Step 1: Create a Tool Link

Part 3: Add the Tool Link to an Assignment
After configuring the tool, you can attach it to an assignment.

- Make the assignment Visible, then select Save and Close.
Testing the Integration
You can test the setup by viewing the course as a student.
- In the content browser, expand the module and open the assignment.
- If you don’t see the assignment, make sure it is set to Visible.
- Select the link under Instructions to launch the attached resource.
