GMetrix offers two types of codes for distributing content: Classroom Codes and Access Codes. Both codes can be redeemed by any user with a Student Account, but each are designed for different needs.
Quick Summary
- Use Classroom Codes if you want flexibility and shared management—perfect for schools.
- Use Access Codes if you want guaranteed availability and simple distribution—ideal for resellers and events.
When to Use Each
Classroom Codes (Recommended for K–12)
Classroom Codes are best for K–12 schools, teachers, and district administrators.
They let you:
- Share licenses across multiple teachers or classrooms.
- Only use licenses when a student actually redeems the code.
- Avoid wasting unused licenses.
- Easily track student progress in a shared Classroom.
- Spend less time managing access, and more time teaching.
Example: A district gives each teacher a Classroom Code for 100 students. If only 80 students use the code, the 20 unused licenses are still available for others.
Access Codes (Recommended for Mass Distribution)
Access Codes are generally better for resellers or anyone distributing codes in bulk.
They let you:
- Guarantee that licenses are available when students redeem the code.
- Create codes ahead of time with a fixed number of uses.
- Avoid license availability issues at redemption.
- Keep clear records of how many codes were used and where.
Example: A reseller creates 100 Access Codes to sell online. Those licenses are reserved immediately, so every customer is guaranteed access.
