With LTI Advantage (LTI 1.3) you can use Dynamic Registration to connect GMetrix to D2L Brightspace.


Once connected, you can add GMetrix Courses and Practice Exams to Brightspace courses. You'll be able to see scores and progress, and learners will be able to access assigned Courses and Practice Exams directly within Brightspace.

Configure LTI 1.3 for Brightspace

If you are using a district, multi-school, multi-org, or nonstandard implementation, contact GMetrix Support before proceeding.


Before you begin
• Make sure you have access to the GMetrix Administrator Portal.
• Make sure you have administrator access in Brightspace.
• Make sure the Manage LTI Tools permission is enabled at the organization level.
• Remember that Brightspace registration and deployment are separate parts of the setup.


In a web browser, open two new windows or tabs:

  1. In the first, sign in to the GMetrix Administrator Portal.

  2. In the second, sign in to your D2L Brightspace account.

  1. From the sidebar, select Integrations.

  2. In the LTI 1.3 (Advantage) section, copy the Dynamic Registration URL.

  1. From the Admin Tools menu, select Manage Extensibility.

  2. Select LTI Advantage.

  3. Select Register Tool.

  4. Select Dynamic.

  5. Select Register.

  6. Enter or paste the GMetrix Dynamic Registration URL.

  7. Review the settings requested by GMetrix.

  8. Select Register.

  1. Return to the list of LTI Advantage registrations.

  2. Select GMetrix from the list.

  3. From the Status list, select Enabled.

  4. Select Save.

  1. From the Admin Tools menu, select External Learning Tools.

  2. Select LTI Advantage.

  3. Select New Deployment.

  4. Select GMetrix from the Tool list.

  5. Enter a name for the deployment.

  6. Optional: Enter a description.

  7. Select the extensions requested by GMetrix.

  8. Review the security and configuration settings.

  9. Select Add Org Units.

  10. Select one or more org units that should use GMetrix.

  11. Select Create Deployment.

In D2L Brightspace:

  1. Confirm that the GMetrix registration status is Enabled.

  2. Confirm that the GMetrix deployment appears in External Learning Tools.

  3. Confirm that the deployment is enabled.

  4. Confirm that the intended Brightspace org units are included in the deployment.


After Setup

  • Single Sign-On (SSO): After the connection is established, users can launch GMetrix from D2L Brightspace without needing to sign in to both platforms.

  • Grade Passback: Supported Practice Exam scores can be returned to D2L Brightspace based on the assignment settings.

  • Deep Linking: Instructors can select and add supported GMetrix content directly from within D2L Brightspace.
